Sorry, this appears to have gotten lost. I'll make sure that we take a look!
Hi there, If Infinit isn’t able to log in automatically, we’ll need to take a look at your log files to recommend the best solution. Could you please navigate to C:/Users/[Your Username] and locate a folder called .infinit? When you do can you zip that folder and email it to me at firstname.lastname@example.org?
Hi. Please follow the instructions in the reply above. Thanks.
Thanks so much for your suggestion. I’m sorry that this feature isn’t yet available. Our product team is working on several other features at the moment, but we’ll certainly keep this one in mind.
Hi there. I'm afraid that on Mac, you won't be able to remove your history at the moment. In addition, there's no user management feature for contacts that have been added via Infinit. However, you can manage your Apple contacts, and any modifications will be reflected in the app.
Our apps won’t be able to generate a link with your custom domain until the next update.
Until then, you can follow these instructions to send links with your domain.
Generate an Infinit link. It will look like https://infinit.io/_/XXXXXX
Our next update will do this for your automatically.
We’ll also be changing the redirect for your domain. I’m sorry that this is the case at the moment.
Thanks for posting. HTTPS for links is in our pipeline, but it's not available just yet. However, when you generate a link and you've put in place a custom domain, the link generated should appear with HTTP and not HTTPS. If you're encountering such a problem, could you please send me an email at email@example.com?
We released this feature as a sort of preview and test to begin with. On Windows, this should now work correctly with the auto-link generation for custom domains in http. We'll be bringing this to Mac as well very shortly.
Thanks for all of your comments and suggestions. With images and videos, we have decided to show large versions of the files, so that the content is front and center. As a result, we've moved the avatar (round icon) to the top left of the screen, where it won't take up much space.
Regarding the descriptions, we're looking into why these aren't showing up for videos, and hope to have a fix for this in one of our next updates.
Thanks for getting in touch. I'm sorry this is posing a problem for you. Would you mind trying to change the hotkeys to something completely different rather than leaving them blank? That should free up the shortcuts for other apps.
Hi everyone. I’m sorry that you’re experiencing pauses in your transfers. I can imagine this being very frustrating. We’ll be able to help fix these problems over email. Could you please open the Terminal on your Mac and enter the following command:
tar cvf ~/.infinit/infinit-logs.tar.gz ~/.infinit/* && mv ~/.infinit/infinit-logs.tar.gz ~/Desktop/infinit-logs.tar.gz.tmp
A new file will appear on your desktop. Please send that file to me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thanks for bringing up the issue on Windows. Generally when a transfer is pausing and reconnecting, it's because you are in a pure peer-to-peer transfer meaning that you are downloading directly from your sender. Your sender's upload bandwidth is generally lower than your own download bandwidth, meaning that you'll have to wait longer to download each additional piece of a file.
If you'd like to send your logs please open Windows Explorer and navigate to C:/Users/[Your Username]. In that folder, you'll see a subfolder called .infinit. Please zip that folder and email it to me at email@example.com.
We’ll be adding a way for you to auto-accept transfers between your own devices this month. However, allowing this for other users gets a bit tricky for us if you have more than one device, so we’re still looking into how best to manage this type of auto-accept.
Thanks for the question. On all platforms, Infinit will inform you about a successful delivery with a notification. At the moment, we don't use email notifications, but that option is in the pipeline.
I'm afraid that while we do plan on implementing this, there is still a lot of complexity to consider. Specifically if your recipient has 2 or more devices, at the moment, we can't be sure about where the files should be automatically accepted. Once we have a better idea of how this can be managed, we'll post an update here to let you know we've started working on it. I'm sorry for the delay!
No news just yet. However, we will be releasing the auto-accept feature for transfers sent to your other devices, which is the first step. This should be out by the end of the month or by mid-May at the latest.
Yes, that is an interesting suggestion. What you've described is similar to some of the ideas we've been throwing around here. However, we really would like to simplify these interactions, and by having device specific lists and re-downloading from other devices, may complicate the experience pretty significantly. I believe that you made this feature request as well: https://infinit.uservoice.com/admin/forums/95479-general-feedback/suggestions/7407367-accept-transfer-from-a-different-device-accept-wi
This seems like a very practical way for this to work, at least at the outset. What does everyone think?
UPDATE: The ability to remove old transfers will be coming to Android in the next update. We’ll be working on adding this to Mac and Windows as well, likely in the following update.
Late this past summer we were forced to remove this feature from our Android pipeline because Google wanted to feature Infinit on the Play Store. Removing a transfer from Infinit's interface involved a swipe action that was contrary to how Google wanted the app to behave. On iOS, this feature has been in place for the past 8 months or so.
On desktop, the changes are much more difficult to make because Windows and Mac have different flows within the app. We intend to bring coherence to these interfaces as soon as we hire new developers. At this point, on desktop, we'll begin to converge the interfaces and make many of the changes posted on these forums including the ability to remove transfers.
Our apologies for the delay. We understand the need for this and your frustration, but in order to save time and with limited resources, we're forced to take the most long-term pragmatic decisions. Thanks for your understanding.
Thanks for the clarification. Your comment couldn't have come at a better time. We'll be experimenting with adding and managing contacts as soon as January rolls around. Having these types of insights is really useful!
Hi Omar. Thanks again for your feedback. That's most likely how we'll do it. We have to see how to implement it so that it doesn't clutter the interface too much. We've got some ideas though ;) Many thanks as well for your kind words!
Hello Heribert. I'm sorry that you're having some trouble with Infinit on Windows 10. It's true that Infinit isn't yet compatible with this version of Windows. We do intend to make it compatible soon, but we have some important updates we're working on first.
We are a small company, and try to react as quickly as we can, but at the moment, we don't yet have the resources to publish content in more than one language. Many questions that you might have may have answers posted on http://help.infinit.io. You can translate these pages with Google Translate.
Thank you for your understanding. If I can help with anything else, please don't hesitate to get in touch at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thanks for the input Léo! It seems that the problem with showing images in Slack is rather that if you post a link before the file is completely uploaded, it won't be able to display in Slack. The reason for this is that we don't have a preview of the image that we can use, and because we can't force Slack to refresh in order to show the image. The only work around for now is to wait a few extra seconds (for most images) for the upload to finish before posting in Slack. You can use the dynamic Infinit icon to gauge the progress.
This is also an interesting approach to filtering and seems linked closely to being able to filter/sort the links in general, as proposed in another post.
Oh. I see. That's an interesting way of thinking about it. I'm not sure if this will be an implementation we'll be able to do quickly, but we do still hope to make a more pronounced distinction between links and screenshots.
Hi Peter! Thanks for offering us this feedback. We would very much like to provide this feature or even be able to open the app directly after selecting Infinit. However, Apple only allows one function for each extension. As a result, we're only able to move the files to Infinit and the rest must be done manually for now.
If ever this changes, we would make the changes the same day :)
We’ll be introducing this feature in our premium offering that can be expected out sometime in the next few months.
I'm sorry that you're having some trouble with your branded landing page. Can you please email me at email@example.com with one of your links so I can understand what happens when you send a link please?
Regarding the branded emails, this is absolutely a feature we'd love to include in the premium offer, and we hope to soon. We're working on a couple of other features at the moment though, but we hope to address the emails soon.
We very much feel the same way at Infinit. Our goal right now is to improve the sending experience, but we may make our way into the sync market sometime in the near future.
Hello everyone. We're still working on this aspect of Infinit right now. It will likely take the form of a different product or at the very least, be available as a separate beta version from the current Infinit. Our belief is that the existing p2p sync solutions are both badly designed from a user experience perspective (aka comparing BT Sync to Dropbox for example) and that the flexibility that these solutions permit, particularly for multiple users and access control is severely lacking. These are the two areas we will be focusing on.
At the moment, your uploaded files need to be zipped unless they are being shared with another Infinit user. I’m afraid we need to do this in order to guarantee that specifically folders are transferred without any inconsistencies. If both sender and recipient are using Infinit, however, the files won’t be compressed.
Hi Evan. Thanks for getting in touch. I'm sorry that you're seeing files stuck at 0%. Generally this shouldn't be due to the compression process since even for large files, it is done rather quickly. It may be a problem with how the app is trying to connect.
I'll be happy to look at this more precisely for you, but I'll need to get your log files. We can exchange by email if you'd like. Shoot me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org if you'd like.
Thanks for getting in touch about showing the percentage (progress) on the Windows app. Can you please let me know if when you send or receive files, you see a blue ring around the avatar of the other user?
If not, the file may have already been sent or has not yet begun to be sent. You can also refer to this guide for transfer states which on Windows, but with a slightly different color scheme: http://help.infinit.io/knowledgebase/articles/646678-what-do-icons-mean-in-infinit-s-mobile-apps
We will certainly reflect on adding a numerical percentage though.
We’re really looking forward to making this happen! It’s something we’ve been dying to do, so rest assured that it’s in the pipeline!
Hi Ambroise. Yes! It is still in the pipeline. We've been working on a few different aspects that should bring a significant amount of flexibility to how developers can use Infinit. We'll be announcing these features very soon.
Thanks for the feedback Nick. We’ve thought about the best way of going about this since screenshots end up becoming a bit difficult manage. We are thinking about adding a setting that would let your screenshots expire or auto-delete after X number of days.
No worries. I've just created one here: http://help.infinit.io/forums/95479-general-feedback/suggestions/10285077-delete-all-links
Feel free to support it or add any comments you think might help elaborate what you're looking for in this feature.
